Australian wild card Blake Mott captured his maiden ATP Challenger title, winning Sunday’s final of the $75,000 Neville-Smith Forest Products Launceston Interational against eighth seed Andrey Golubev 6-7, 6-1, 6-2.
The 19-year-old world number 721 won 72% of his first service points and was efficient with his break point opportunities, converting seven out of 13 to seal victory in two hours and seven minutes.
“What an amazing week for me here in Launceston. Loved every minute out there! Appreciate all the kind messages,” Mott wrote on twitter.
The Melbourne resident takes away $10,800 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points, which helps him to clinch a new career high 455th position on Monday.
In an-all-Australian-doubles final on Friday Luke Saville and Jordan Thompson took the title, winning 6-1, 4-6, 13-11 over Dayne Kelly and Matt Reid in 68 minutes.
