STARNBERG, June 8, 2021
With the second week at Roland Garros still underway, the grass-court season on the ATP Tour begins at the MercedesCup in Stuttgart, where two rising Canadians lead the way. Top seed Denis Shapovalov and third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime will try to make their mark at the ATP 250 event being held at the Tennis Club Weissenhof.
There will be several tough challengers, with Miami champion Hubert Hurkacz of Poland trying to gain momentum on the quick courts. Other players to watch include Aussies Alex de Minaur and John Millman, 2017 Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic from Croatia and talented German shotmaker Dustin Brown, who received a wild card.

The first edition of the tournament in Stuttgart was held in 1898, with Mercedes-Benz assuming the role of title sponsor in 1979. There’s always an added incentive for ATP Tour players to win the tournament: the champion takes home a new Mercedes-Benz.
You thought they drove the car onto center court? 😉🚗
