RENNES, June 18, 2021

One of the top indoor events on the ATP Challenger Tour, the Open Blot Rennes will be held later in the season. This was announced by the organizers of the tournament on Wednesday. The 15th edition will take place at Le Liberté from September 13 to 19, the week after the US Open.

Reigning Roland Garros doubles champion Nicolas Mahut of France will be the tournament’s new ‘Directeur Sportif’.

“I won this tournament in 2013 and it was already an important tournament for me. I have extraordinary memories of it, so when the position of the sporting director at the Open Blot Rennes was offered to me, I immediately accepted,” Mahut said.

“We have a lot of assets: the magnificent Le Liberté, an exceptional date, which allows us to hope for a great line-up, the spectators who will be back… In short, we have all the ingredients to have a great tournament. I was busy at Roland Garros at the time of the announcement, but I can’t wait to meet the partners and all the people who make this event happen.”

In January last year, the Open Blot Rennes was one of the last events held before the suspension of the tour due to the coroavirus outbreak. Local favourite Arthur Rinderknech clinched his maiden Challenger trophy in front of packed stands and in an electrifying atmosphere. More than 27,000 people attended the matches throughout the week.
