NOTTINGHAM, June 20, 2021

The 2021 grass swing on the ATP Challenger Tour came to a close on Sunday with the singles final of the €132,280 Nottingham Trophy. Australian qualifier Alex Bolt rallied from a set down to overcome Kamil Majchrzak of Poland 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at the Nottingham Tennis Centre in the United Kingdom.

Bolt, who beat home favourite Felix Gill, compatriot Matthew Ebden, Thiago Seyboth Wild from Brazil, British wild card entry Aidan McHugh, French top seed Richard Gasquet and US-American Mackenzie McDonald en route to the championship match, fired 12 aces and won 57 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after one hour and 50 minutes.

By lifting his third ATP Challenger career trophy, his first since Zhuhai in China in March 2018, the 28-year-old lefty collected €18,290 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points. Bolt also secured a main draw wild card into The Championships at Wimbledon.

Aussies take doubles title

Following his triumph with Briton Ken Skupski at the same place last week, Australian Matthew Reid captured another doubles title in Nottingham. Alongside his compatriot Marc Polmans, the No. 3 seeds fought past No. 4 seeded Frenchmen Benjamin Bonzi and Antoine Hoang 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 in Saturday’s final. The encounter lasted one hour and 19 minutes.

Polmans and Reid split €7,870 in prize money and collected 125 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
