Two players from Argentina headlined Wednesday’s second-round action at the Salzburg Open, an €132,280 clay-court event being held at the TC GM Sports Anif.
Federico Coria fought past Marc-Andrea Huesler from Switzerland 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 on Centre Court. The No. 3 seed capitalized on seven of his 14 break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 52 minutes. Coria will next take on Blaz Rola, who also had to go the distance to overcome No. 5 seed Roberto Carballes Baena 5-7, 6-2, 7-6(4) after two hours and 44 minutes.
Over on Court 1, Facundo Bagnis remained untroubled during his 6-4, 6-1 win over Frenchman Hugo Gaston. The No. 4 seed from Buenos Aires won 58 per cent of the total points played to advance after one hour and 18 minutes. Up next for Bagnis will be Damir Dzumhur from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who emerged victorious from a three-hour and 22-minute battle, winning 7-6(2), 6-7(5), 6-2 against No. 8 seed Spaniard Carlos Taberner.
