SALZBURG, July 10, 2021

Two Argentines will go head-to-head in Sunday’s singles final of the inaugural Salzburg Open, an €132,280 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event being held at the TC GM Sports Anif.

No. 3 seed Federico Coria beat his compatriot Juan-Ignacio Londero 6-1, 6-4 on Saturday afternoon. The World No. 87 Buenos Aires resident struck six aces and won 84 per cent of his first-service points to advance after one hour and 14 minutes.

Earlier in the day, Facundo Bagnis ended the good run of Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry, winning 6-4, 6-4. The No. 4 seed broke his opponent’s serve four times to prevail after one hour and 30 minutes.

Coria is seeking his third ATP Challenger career title, his second of the season following his triumph at the Czech Open in Prostejov last month. Bagnis could lift his 14th trophy, his first since Biella, Italy in October 2020.

The two South American will meet for the fourth time with their head-to-head record tied at 2-2.

Bagnis/Galdos take doubles title

Bagnis has already clinched a title this week in Austria. Alongside his partner Sergio Galdos from Peru, he prevailed in the doubles competition. The unseeded duo defeated Robert Galloway and Alex Lawson from the United States 6-0, 6-3 in the championship match. The encounter lasted 54 minutes.
