The Atlantic Tire Championships, an ATP Challenger Tour 80 hard-court event, started the singles first round on Monday at the Cary Tennis Park in North Carolina.
Three US-Americans advanced to the second round of the 32-player draw. Christian Harrison and wild card entry Govind Nanda both prevailed with straight-sets victories. Stefan Kozlov defeated fellow US-American Donald Young in a three-set battle.
Former UNC Tarheel Brayden Schnur of Canada and Denmark’s Mikael Torpegaard rounded out Monday night’s singles winners.
The Atlantic Tire Championships is in its 6th year as a USTA Pro Circuit event. In November 2020, home favourite Denis Kudla captured his seventh ATP Challenger career trophy by winning the singles final against Prajnesh Gunneswaran of India in three sets.
