Unseeded Camila Giorgi is the champion of the Omnium Banque Nationale présenté par Rogers in Montreal, Canada. The World No. 71 from Italy secured the biggest title of her career with a 6-3, 7-5 win over No. 4 seed Karolina Pliskova, her third consecutive win over the Czech.
Giorgi sent down seven aces and won 71 per cent of her first-service points in Sunday’s singles final to prevail after one hour and 40 minutes.

Earlier in the season, the 29-year-old stunned Pliskova in the opening round of Eastbourne in June and backed that up with a straight-set victory in the third round of the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Giorgi captured her first WTA 1000 trophy, her third career title following her triumphs at ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2015 on grass and Linz 2018 on indoor hard courts. She collected $221,500 in prize money as well as 900 WTA Ranking points and will move up to World No. 34 in the WTA Rankings.
Giorgi will next play at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati facing US-American Jessica Pegula in the first round as a repeat of her Montreal semi-final.
