Two Frenchmen will compete in the semi-finals of the third edition of the Cassis Open Provence being held at the Tennis Sporting Club de Cassis in Southern France this week. Red-hot Benjamin Bonzi, top seed of the €44,820 ATP Challenger Tour hard-court event and winner of four Challenger titles this season, will lead the line-up in the stage of the last four.
Bonzi edged past 17-year-old wild card entry Luca van Assche, the 2021 French Open boys’ singles champion, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 on a rain-interrupted Friday. The World No. 94 fired 11 aces and won 78 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after one hour and 42 minutes. Up next for Bonzi will be Kacper Zuk from Poland, who defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia 6-4, 7-6(3) in one hour and 38 minutes.

In the bottom half of the draw, Lucas Pouille defeated fellow Frenchman and wild card entry Clement Chidekh 7-6(1), 6-4. The No. 5 seed converted two of his nine break-point chances to secure victory in one hour and 33 minutes.
Pouille will next take on Briton Liam Broady, who beat Indian qualifier Ramkumar Ramanathan 7-6(7), 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 33 minutes.
