Jannik Sinner won his first ATP Tour title at the Sofia Open last November, and the 20-year-old Italian will try to retain his trophy this week at the ATP 250 hard-court event in Bulgaria.
A tough field will try to stop the three-time tour-level champion, though. Gael Monfils, who made the semi-finals in Sofia two years ago, is the second seed. The Frenchman is also in good form after making the last four last week in Metz.
Other players to watch include third seed Australian Alex de Minaur, fourth seed Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan, #NextGenATP Italian Lorenzo Musetti and Winston-Salem champion Ilya Ivashka of Belarus.

Rublev leads the field in San Diego
Top seed Andrey Rublev will try to win his second ATP Tour title of the season this week at the inaugural San Diego Open, where the World No. 5 from Russia will face a stacked field. The California city has been granted a single-year license in 2021.
The field is so strong that former World No. 1 Andy Murray of Great Britain and former World No. 4 Kei Nishikori from Japan, both unseeded, will meet in the first round. The winner will play second-seeded Norwegian Casper Ruud, who has lifted four tour-level trophies in 2021.
Canadian stars Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov are seeded third and fourth, respectively. Other players to keep an eye on are #NextGenATP US-Americans Sebastian Korda and Brandon Nakashima.
