Marco Chiudinelli captured the title of the second edition of the €85,000 Wroclaw Open on Sunday, winning the final at an almost fully packed Hala Orbita against Czech qualifer Jan Hernych 6-3, 7-6.

The 34-year-old from Switzerland won 85% of his first service points, saved the only break point he faced and converted one of his own to prevail in one hour and 44 minutes.

“I am happy that so many people came out to watch the final and created a great atmosphere,” Chiudinelli told after winning his first ATP Challenger title since lifting the trophy in Tenerife in 2009. He earns €12,500 in prize money as well as 110 ATP ranking points.

“It was a tough match. I was also pretty nervous but I was just one percent better than my opponent today, which let me win the final.”

Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who claimed the singles title at the ATP Challenger in Bergamo last week, was successful in the doubles again. Teaming up with fellow Frenchman Albano Olivetti, the tandem beat Croats Nikola Mektic and Antonio Sancic in the final 6-3, 7-6. The match lasted 68 minutes.
