The quarterfinals of the $52,080 Dove Men & Care Legión Sudamericana Challenger Santiago 2 ATP Challenger clay-court event are set. Home favourite Nicolas Jarry from Chile will join his compatriot Gonzalo Lama in the stage of the final eight, as he rallied past Argentine qualifier Facundo Diaz Acosta 6-7(4), 7-5, 6-4 in his second-round match on Thursday afternoon.

The 25-year-old Santiago native sent down seven aces, saved all seven break points he faced and converted two of his own eight break-point chances to advance after two hours and 49 minutes.

“I am very pleased with this match,” said Jarry. “It was a tough one. Facundo played with a lot of confidence, as he won a lot of matches. But I did a good job on court today.”

Jarry will next play No. 4 seed Hugo Dellien from Bolivia, who fought past Camilo Ugo Carabelli from Argentina 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 after two hours and 15 minutes.

Juan Pablo Varillas booked his quarterfinal spot with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Julian Lenz from Germany. The No. 3 seed from Peru capitalized on five of his 10 break point chances to succeed after one hour and 19 minutes. Varillas will next oppose Gerald Melzer from Austria, who beat Argentine Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-4, 6-2. The encounter lasted 80 minutes.
