Jiri Vesely and Norbert Gombos will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the €66,640 Open de Vendée held at the Vendespace Arena in Mouilleron-Le-Captif in France.
No. 2 seed Vesely edged past fourth-seeded Italian Andreas Seppi 6-4, 7-6(1). The 28-year-old from the Czech Republic hit 13 aces and won 75 per cent of his first-service points to secure victory in one hour and 38 minutes.
Gombos ended the run of German qualifier Mats Rosenkranz, winning 6-4, 7-6(4). The No. 8 seed from Slovakia saved all four break points he faced and capitalized on one of his own eight break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 23 minutes.
“I always feel comfortable, playing in France,” Gombos said. “Most of my good results I achieved here. I love playing here. I am happy to reach another final. I am really excited to play tomorrow and I am happy about my performance.”

Vesely could lift his eighth ATP Challenger crown in addition to his two ATP Tour titles won in Auckland 2015 and Pune 2020. Gombos is bidding for his ninth Challenger trophy, his first since Winnipeg 2019.
Vesely leads the pair’s head-to-head record 6-1.
Eysseric/Halys triumph on home soil
Earlier in the day, Jonathan Eysseric and Quentin Halys captured the doubles title. The all-French combination upset the tournament’s top seeds David Pel from the Netherlands and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi from Pakistan 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-8. The encounter lasted one hour and 37 minutes.
By winning their second Challenger team title after Recanati, Italy 2017, Eysseric and Halys split €3,950 in prize money and collected 90 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
