Harmony Tan clinched the title of the inaugural Loulé Open, an ITF World Tennis Tour W25 hard-court event organized by the Loulé Tennis Club in Portugal. The 24-year-old from France defeated Australia’s Ellen Perez 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.
Top-seeded Tan defeated Darya Astakhova of Russia, Nastasja Mariana Schunk from Germany, Natalija Stevanovic of Serbia and Chloe Paquet from France en route to the title match. The World No. 119 broke Perez’s serve three times in the final and won four points more than her rival to secure victory in one hour and 32 minutes.

“I am very happy. I started the week very badly because my first round was very difficult, but I really enjoyed everything in Portugal and Loulé and I want to thank everyone who made this tournament possible. I really enjoyed playing here and this week the conditions were very good for me so I’m very happy,” said Tan, who captured her second title of the season following her triumph at the ITF World Tennis Tour W60 tournament in Andrezieux-Boutheon, France in January.
Next she wants to crack the Top 100. “It’s my goal until the end of the year and I’ll play three or four more tournaments to try to achieve it,” Tan said.
