Spanish teen sensation Carlos Alcaraz is the winner of the inaugural Red Bull BassLine, a tennis exhibition played in a tie-break format in the lead-up to the Erste Bank Open ATP 500 tournament. In front of 1,000 spectators inside the Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria, the 18-year-old didn’t drop a set en-route to the title.

Alcaraz beat his compatriot Feliciano Lopez, Cristian Garin of Chile and World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece in the championship match.

“This tournament was a really cool experience. The atmosphere with the fans was great, plus the music during the rallies – that was something completely different. Of course, I’m very happy about the win, especially because I played very well,” Alcaraz said.

“I think this is a new, exciting event that in particular the younger fans will like. It got off to a great start here thanks to the euphoric audience in Vienna,” said Tsitsipas and congratulated Alcaraz.

“Now I’ve lost to you again, but you deserve the win,” he said, referring to the recent five-set defeat in the third round of the US Open in New York.
