Four Brazilians booked their spots in the second round of the Dove Men & Care – La Legión Florianopolis, a $52,080 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court tournament being held at the Lagoa Iate Clube in Florianopolis, in the South region of Brazil.

Orlando Luz battled past battled past Roberto Cid Subervi from the Dominican Republic 6-4, 6-7(7), 6-3. The World No. 300 capitalized on seven of his 11 break-point chances to prevail after two hours and 49 minutes.

“I’m very happy with the victory. I knew how to manage the third set well after missing two match points in the second set. I felt a little cramp until the end and I knew how to deal with it and kept fighting,” Luz said.

The 23-year-old Carazinho native will next take on fellow Brazilian and doubles partner Igor Marcondes. The qualifier upset No. 7 seed Andrea Collarini of Argentina 6-3, 6-3 after one hour and 22 minutes.

“The match will be tough like all the others and I hope to be able to impose my game as I have been doing in other matches,” World No. 524 Marcondes said and is looking forward to the clash with his friend.
