Andrey Rublev captured his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour, winning the sixth edition of the €42,500 Open BNP Paribas Banque De Bretagne in Quimper. The only 18-year-old qualifier from Russia upset top-seed Paul-Henri Mathieu in Sunday’s final 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.

In the pair’s first tour meeting, Rublev fought back after being a set and a break down, hitting 12 aces and winning 75% of his first service points. The world number 208 from Moscow broke serve in the sixth game of the final set but couldn’t serve out in the ninth game, missing one match point. Rublev, however, took the match after two hours and 23 minutes with his fifth break over Mathieu in the following.

Rublev is the first qualifier to win an ATP Challenger title in 2016 and has become the third teenager this season, joining Taylor Fritz and Blake Mott. He takes away €6,150 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points.

Earlier the day, French combination of Tristan Lamasine and Albano Olivetti clinched the doubles title, winning 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 agaisnt Croatian tandem Nikola Mektic and Antonio Sancic in 68 minutes.
