FLORIANOPOLIS/STARNBERG, December 13, 2021
Brazilian qualifier Igor Marcondes won his first pro title at the Dove Men & Care – La Legión Florianopolis in his first ATP Challenger Tour final, defeating second-seeded Bolivian Hugo Dellien 6-2, 6-4 at the Lagoa Iate Clube in Florianopolis Sunday.
The 524th-ranked Marcondes put on a solid display on his serve, hitting five aces. The 24-year-old lefty dominated the match with his strong forehand, capitalized on five of his nine break-point opportunities to triumph at the $52,080 clay-court tournament after one hour and 20 minutes of play.
La sonrisa en el rostro de Igor Marcondes tardará varios días en irse.

“I think the most important thing is to believe in it,” said Marcondes. “I did so right from the beginning. I knew it would be a very difficult tournament, but I kept fighting, point by point, game by game. I managed to cap the week in the best possible way. It’s my first singles title. I had already played two Futures finals. It’s an incredible feeling. I’m very happy.”
Marcondes earned $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points and is projected has reached a new career-high ranking of World No. 331.
