SAVANNAH, March 9, 2016
The USTA announced The Landings Club in Savannah will host the 8th annual St. Joseph’s/Candler Savannah Challenger, April 18-24 at the Club’s Franklin Creek Tennis Center. The tournament, a USTA Pro Circuit event, is one of the largest tennis events in Georgia and attracts many players preparing to play on clay at the French Open.

The field for the $50,000 Challenger will feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. Players ranked as high as No. 50 in the world typically compete in Challenger-level events. The qualifying tournament beginning April 16 will determine the final four singles players in the field.
In 2015, Hyeon Chung claimed his third ATP Challenger title, winning the final against James McGee.
Also last year, St. Joseph’s/Candler (SJ/C) and The Landings Club, two Savannah-based organizations, partnered together as SJ/C proudly took the helm as the title sponsor of the Savannah Challenger ATP Tennis Tournament. SJ/C was also named as a healthcare partner of The Landings Club as part of the three-year agreement.
