The bottom half of the draw at the $50,000 Cachantun Cup was in second round action on Wednesday at the Club Manquehue in Santiago.
Juan Ignacio Londero knocked out second seed Roberto Carballés-Baena 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.The world number 283 from Argentina won 75% of his first service points and capitalized on five of his 13 break points to finish the encounter after one hour and 50 minutes. Londero will take on Thiago Monteiro next. The Brazilian wild card defeated sixth seed Facundo Arguello, rallying 4-6, 6-3, 7-6. The match lasted two hours and 31 minutes.
Third seed Rogerio Dutra Silva ousted José Hernandez-Fernandez 7-6, 6-3. The world numer 114 from Brazil sent down seven aces and won 75% of his first service points to prevail in one hour and 57 minutes. He will face fellow countryman Guilherme Clezar in the quarterfinal. The eighth seed from Porto Alegre beat Mathias Bourgue 6-4, 7-5. Clezar converted three of his 10 break point chances to advance after one hour and 52 minutes.
