In the second semi-final, Torres benefited from the retirement of his compatriot Juan Pablo Paz. The 19-year-old from Buenos Aires was leading 6-4, 3-0 when Paz was forced to stop playing due to abdominal pain.

Marcondes is seeking his second ATP Challenger crown following his maiden triumph on home soil in Florianopolis in December last year. Three-time ITF Pro Circuit winner Torres could lift his first Challenger trophy in his first appearance in a championship match. By reaching the final World No. 473 Torres is projected to become one of 12 players under the age of 20 being ranked inside the Top 400. Marcondes and Torres will meet for the first time.

Arias/Zeballos crowned doubles champions

In other action, the all-Bolivian combination of Boris Arias and Federico Zeballos claimed the doubles title. The No. 4 seeds defeated the tournament’s top favourites Diego Hidalgo from Ecuador and Cristian Rodriguez of Colombia 7-6(1), 6-1 after one hour and 19 minutes.

By winning their first team title on the ATP Challenger Tour, Arias and Zeballos split $2,000 in prize money and earned 50 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
