Home favourite Igor Marcondes took the title of the Circuito Dove Men Care hosted by the Tabajara Tênis Clube in Blumenau, Brazil. The No. 5 seed in the $37,520 ATP Challenger Tour 50 clay-court event rallied from a set down to outlast Argentine teenager and first-time finalist Juan Bautista Torres 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 in Sunday’s championship match.
Marcondes sent down four aces, won 73 per cent of his first-service points and converted five of his eight break-point opportunities to seal victory in two hours and 19 minutes.

“It was a very special week and a very difficult match, I counted on the support of the crowd to overcome some moments and came out with the victory, starting the year with another title. I just have to say thank you. I did a good job. Now it’s time to go for more,” said Marcondes.
Following his maiden triumph on home soil in Florianopolis in December last year, the World No. 326 from Caraguatatuba lifted his second trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour. Marcondes pocketed $5,150 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.
Torres earned $3,050 in prize money and 30 ATP Ranking points. The 19-year-old from Buenos Aires is projected to become one of 12 players under the age of 20 being ranked inside the Top 400 on Monday.
