World No. 118 Dennis Novak leads the semi-finals line-up of the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale. The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger 80 tournament edged out sixth-seeded Portuguese Joao Sousa 6-3, 7-6(6) on Friday afternoon.
Novak won 89 per cent of his first-service points, saved both break points he faced and capitalized on one of his own three break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 28 minutes. The 28-year-old Austrian will next take on Gregoire Barrere. The World No. 167 from France defeated Russian qualifier Andrey Kuznetsov 6-3, 6-3 in exactly one hour of play.
In the bottom half of the draw, Vasek Pospisil defeated Dutch qualifier Tim van Rijthoven 7-6(3), 6-4. The No. 5 seed from Canada outpointed his rival 75-65 after one hour and 38 minutes. Pospisil will next face Hiroki Moriya of Japan, who emerged victorious from the battle of two qualifiers with Frenchman Alexandre Muller, winning 6-4, 7-5. The encounter lasted one hour and 36 minutes.
