Two British players ended the winning streaks of two teenagers in the semi-finals of the $50,000 Challenger Banque Nationale de Drummondville.

Fourth seed Daniel Evans defeated 16-year-old Denis Shapovalov 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. The world number 157 from Birmingham withstood 11 aces, hitting three of his own to prevail in one hour and 44 minutes. It will be the second final for Evans after he lost to Kyle Edmund at the Dallas Challenger last month.

Edward Corrie

Evans will meet his British compatriot Edward Corrie in Sunday’s championship match. The 28-year-old luck loser beat Dutch qualifier Tim van Rijthoven 6-3, 6-4. Corrie saved the only break point he faced and converted two of his own to seal victory in 69 minutes.

The two Brits will meet for the sixth time on the tour with Corrie leading 3-2 in head to head records. The world number 531 from Hertfordshire won the last meeting between the two in the quarterfinal of the ITF Futures in Preston in 2013.

Meanwhile, the doubles title went to the US-American duo of James Cerretani and Max Schnur thanks to a 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 victory over the British team of Evans and Lloyd Glasspool. The match lasted 65 minutes.
