Filip Misolic from Austria successfully defended his title at the Istarska Rivijera in Porec. The No. 3 seed of the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 clay-court event, part of Croatia’s oldest international tennis tournament series which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, came back from a set and a break down to outlast fourth-seeded Spaniard Oriol Roca Batalla 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.
Misolic booked his place in the championship match with straight-set wins over Giovanni Fonio from Italy, home favourite Bozo Barun, Frenchman Matthieu Perchicot and Sebastian Gima of Romania.
The 20-year-old Graz native with Croatian roots was more solid on his second serve, winning 63 per cent of the points played and broke Roca Batalla two times to secure victory in two hours and 56 minutes. The match marked one of the longest finals in the history of Istarska Rivijera.
Misolic, who celebrated his maiden triumph here in Porec last year, captured his sixth career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour. By lifting his first trophy of the season, the World No. 335 earned $3,600 in prize money as well as 25 ATP Ranking points.

Greeks triumph in doubles
On Saturday, Aristotelis Thanos and Petros Tsitsipas clinched the doubles title. The No. 2 seeds from Greece battled past the tournament’s top favourites Titouan Droguet of France and Ergi Kirki from Turkey 7-6(4), 4-6, 10-7. The final lasted one hour and 45 minutes.
By winning their second team title following their triumph in Monastir, Tunisia in September 2020, Thanos and Tsitsipas split $1,550 in prize money and pocketed 25 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
