HALLE/WESTFALEN, March 21, 2022
Nick Kyrgios and Hubert Hurkacz will compete in this year’s Terra Wortmann Open. This was announced by the organizers of the ATP 500 grass-court tournament on Monday. The 29th edition will be held in Halle, Westphalia from June 11 to 19, 2022.
Six-time ATP Tour singles champion Kyrgios, who clinched the Australian Open doubles title this season alongside his compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis, will make his debut at the OWL ARENA.
“With Nick Kyrgios, we could win a player for the Terra Wortmann Open who is always able to beat the top players, even if he is not among the Top 50 in the world rankings,” says tournament director Ralf Weber.
The statistics show that the 26-year-old Australian is not afraid of big names: Kyrgios defeated each of the “Big 3” (Federer, Nadal, Djokovic) in their respective first meetings. John McEnroe, seven-time Grand Slam winner and Laver Cup captain of Kyrgios in Team World, recently even called the “enfant terrible” as the most talented player he has seen in the last 10 years.

Kyrgios and Hurkacz, who captured his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open last year, have joined an attractive line-up led by World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev of Russia.
Home favourite and World No. 4 Alexander Zverev, Canadian young gun Felix Auger-Aliassime and Italy’s #NextGenATP star Jannik Sinner will also be part of the field in Germany.
