STUTTGART, March 24, 2022
Eight Top 10 players will headline the 45th edition of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix led by current World No. 2 Iga Swiatek of Poland, who could become the new top-ranked women’s player after the retirement of Ashleigh Barty. This was announced by the organizers of the WTA 500 event on Thursday. The clay-court tournament will be held inside the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart from April 16 to 24, 2022.
“We have a sensational field and also spectators inside the arena again – you couldn’t ask for more,” tournament director Markus Günthardt stated in a press release.
“It’s unbelievable that almost all of the Top 20 will come together in Stuttgart. The players feel comfortable here, so they like to come. We provide conditions in which they can perform at their best and our crowd creates a great atmosphere, whether there are two stars or two qualifiers on the court. The players know: You don’t experience that kind of atmosphere at many tournaments around the world.”
