AMSTERDAM, March 24, 2016
The coach of world number 59 Robin Haase has been arrested in connection with the murder of businessman Koen Everink.
29-year-old Mark de Jong, who has coached Haase since 2014, was picked up at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam on Thursday morning when he returned from Miami. Haase withdrew from the ATP Masters 1000 event due to knee injury.
Haase told news agency ANP: “I am shocked. I can’t say any more at the moment.”
Evering was found dead at his home in Bilthoven on March 4 by his daughter. He had been stabbed to death. According to Dutch newspaper “Telegraaf”, Evering received a visitor of the tennis circuit that night.
