OPATIJA, March 26, 2016
Dragos Dima is the champion of the fourth stop on the Istrian clay court swing this March, winning the final of the $10,000 ITF Future Istarska Rivijera in Opatija on Saturday against local wild card Nino Serdarusic 6-1, 6-1.
The seventh seed from Romania appeared in his seventh final on the Pro Circuit and eventually claimed his maiden title. Dima saved three of the four break points he faced, converting six of his own to seal victory in one hour and 12 minutes. The world number 471 earns $1,440 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points. Serdarusic played his first singles final and claimed the doubles title on Friday alongside fellow Croat Tomislav Draganja.
After the events in Rovinj, Porec and Pula, the traditional and the country’s oldest tournament series, held on the Croatian peninsula has come to an end. Dima is the third first-time ITF Future champion during the four-weeks-swing.
