KITZBÜHEL, May 14, 2022
Great news for tennis fans in Austria: After a two-year hiatus, Dominic Thiem is scheduled to return to Kitzbühel. The 28-year-old from Lichtenwörth will play on home soil for the first time since autumn 2020. The Generali Open Kitzbühel will be held from July 23 to 30.
It will mark Thiem’s 10th appearance at the clay-court event nestled in the Alps in the Tyrol region. The current World No. 162 clinched the title here in 2019 with a straight-sets victory over Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain in the singles final.
“We know Dominic loves to play in front of his home crowd. We will do everything for having the best possible atmosphere and hope that he can take this momentum with him and build on his old successes in Kitzbühel,” said tournament director Alexander Antonitsch.
Organizers Herbert Günther and Markus Bodner added that the 2020 US Open champion will be part of an excellent line-up at the ATP Tour 250 tournament. The final entry list will be released in the next couple of weeks.
Tickets for the Generali Open Kitzbühel are available through the tournament’s official website.
