It will be an all-Italian singles final at the Challenger Francavilla al Mare as local wild card entry Francesco Maestrelli and No. 4 seed Matteo Arnaldi will go head-to-head at the Circolo Tennis Francavilla al Mare Sporting Club on Sunday.

Teenager Maestrelli continued his excellent run of form this week on home soil by edging out fifth-seeded Canadian Alexis Galarneau 6-0, 7-6(4) in the semi-finals. The 19-year-old from Pisa converted four of his eight break-point opportunities and won 57 per cent of the total points played to advance to his first championship match on the ATP Challenger Tour after one hour and 50 minutes.

Earlier in the day, Arnaldi benefited from the retirement of No. 6 seed Hernan Casanova from Argentina. The Word No. 280 from Sanremo took the opening set 6-3 when Casanova was forced to stop playing due to a right calf injury.

Both players are bidding for their maiden Challenger crown. Maestrelli won the only previous meeting between the two at an ITF World Tennis Tour tournament in Nur-Sultan in February last year.

Added/Casanova triumph in doubles

In other action, Dan Added of France and Hernan Casanova captured the doubles title. The top seeds beat the all-Italian combination of David Pozzi and Augusto Virgili 6-3, 7-5. The encounter lasted one hour and four minutes.

By winning their first team title, Added and Casanova split €1,700 in prize money and earned 50 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
