The top three seeds of the €134,920 Forli Open booked their spots in the second round of the ATP Challenger Tour 125 clay-court tournament in Italy. World No. 66 and top favourite Lorenzo Musetti delighted his home crowd under the lights on Center Court of the Cooperativa Tennis Villa Carpena by beating Timofey Skatov from Kazakhstan 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 on Tuesday evening.
The 20-year-old Italian capitalized on six of his 12 break-point chances to prevail after two hours and 30 minutes. The match finished only 10 minutes before midnight local time. Up next for Musetti will be German lefty Maximilian Marterer.

In the bottom half of the draw, Jaume Munar opened his title bid with a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 win over Italian veteran Alessandro Giannessi. The second-seeded Spaniard struck six aces and won 81 per cent of his first-service points to advance after 61 minutes. Munar, who is bidding for his eighth Challenger crown, his second of 2022 following his triumph on home soil at the Andalucia Open in Marbella, will next play Gastao Elias from Portugal.
In other action, No. 3 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry fought past Franco Agamenone of Italy 5-7, 6-3, 6-0. The World No. 88 from Argentina outpointed his rival 98-84 after two hours and 49 minutes. Etcheverry will next oppose local wild card entry Stefano Napolitano, who also had to go the distance against his compatriot Salvatore Caruso. The 27-year-old Biella native fired 13 aces to secure a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(3) victory in two hours and 34 minutes.
