Two of the three top-seeds at the €42,500 Open Harmonie Mutuelle fell in the second round on Thursday at the Salle Steredenn in St. Brieuc.

Tobias Kamke emerged victorious from the first tour meeting with fellow German Jan-Lennard Struff, the tournament’s number one. The 29-year-old from Lübeck saved all five break points he faced, converting three of his own to prevail in one hour and 20 minutes. Kamke reaches his fourth quarterfinal of the season and will take on French wild card Alexandre Sidorenko next. The world number 379 from Paris knocked out seventh seed Egor Gerasimov on Wednesday and continued his winning streak with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Aslan Karatsev. The encounter lasted one hour and 13 minutes.

The tournament’s number three Karen Khachanov lost to Aleksandr Nedovyesov 4-6, 3-6. The 29-year-old Ukrainian saved all two break points from the Russian teenager and capitalized on three of his own to advance after 63 minutes. Nedovyesov will face Italian Federico Gaio in the quarterfinal, who overcame Remi Boutillier 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in one hour and 57 minutes.

Only second seed Daniel Evans survived from the the tournament’s top trio. The world number 125 from Great Britain eased past David Guez 6-3, 6-1. Evans won 81% of his first service points and converted five of his eight break point chances to prevail in 57 minutes. He will play sixth seed Igor Sijsling next, who gained a comfortable 6-0, 6-3 victory over Axel Michon in only 47 minutes.
