Francisco Comesana continues his fine run of form by reaching the quarterfinals of the Dove Men+Care Legión Sudamericana Challenger Buenos Aires hosted by the Tenis Club Argentino. The No. 3 seed of the $37,520 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court tournament defeated local wild card entry Juan Bautista Otegui 7-5, 6-2 on Wednesday.
Comesana, champion of last week’s Challenger Corrientes, converted seven of his nine break-point chances to secure victory in one hour and 41 minutes.
“I feel very good. Game after game I’ve been feeling better on the court, and physically I’ve been doing quite well after many matches. We worked hard to make this happen,” said Comesana.
The 21-year-old Argentine, ranked on a personal career-high World No. 239, will next take on Arklon Huertas del Pino Cordova of Peru, who overcame his brother Conner Huertas del Pino 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in two hours and 23 minutes.
