The organizers of the BMW Open by FWU AG as well as Munich’s Tennis Club Iphitos can look forward to a secure future in order to plan the next editions of their ATP 250 World Tour tournament. During the last meeting in November in London, the ATP fixed the date for the Munich tournament for the next five years and dated the doubles and single finals on the first weekend in May.
“We are pleased with the positive news from London and the fact that tennis fans will have the opportunity to watch world class tennis in Munich in the usual way until 2018,” Dr. Fabian Tross, Managing Director of Iphitos event agency said. “The commitment of the ATP gives us long-term planning reliability, which is positive for all parties,” he added.

Germany’s currently best tennis player Philipp Kohlschreiber, ranked on 24th position, has already promised to play at next year’s edition of the BMW Open. “The tournament in Munich is among the world’s best clay court tournaments in the 250 category. The ambiance and the fans in Munich are unique. Therefore, I am very pleased to say today that reaching the final in 2015 will be my goal,” Kohlschreiber said. In 2007 and 2012, the 31-year-old German emerged victorious in Munich and left the court with a brand new BMW car.

“The early promise of Philipp to participate at the BMW Open by FWU AG in the coming year, will lead to a lot of excitement among the fans,” tournament director Patrick Kühnen added. A mixture of top German players and young guns who should characterize a sustainable future in the tennis scene as well as top international players shall attract the spectators attending the tournament. “Our philosophy for the future of the BMW Open is to provide a homogeneous field of players to guarantee an even field having the best sports entertainment and high-class matches throughout the tournament week,” organizer Michael Mronz told. Booking of tickets for 2015 seems to go well. Within a few weeks more than 1.200 tickets have already been sold.
