New final, same outcome. For the second consecutive week, Francisco Comesana has clinched an ATP Challenger Tour title on home soil by winning the championship match against fellow Argentine Mariano Navone. The 21-year-old Mar del Plata native defeated his compatriot 6-4, 6-0 at the Tenis Club Argentino on Sunday to win the Dove Men+Care Legión Sudamericana Challenger Buenos Aires.

Comesana, champion of last week’s Challenger Corrientes, capitalized on five of his nine break-point chances to seal victory in one hour and 14 minutes.

“I can’t believe it. Winning last week was a tremendous achievement for me and I came into this week with a lot of confidence, and match after match my performance improved,” Comesana said.

Following his maiden triumph seven days ago, the new World No. 213 earned $5,150 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.

“I know that there is a long way to go, but who tells you that next year we cannot dream of the top 100,” Comesana added and will next compete in the ATP Challenger events in Colombia at the Cali Open and Bogota.

Navone, runner-up for the second time in a row, was satisfied with the result of these last two weeks. “I didn’t imagine all this, although we made many changes and worked hard since January. I never expected to be playing like this in June, reaching the Challengers or Futures finals,” said Navone, who collected $3,050 in prize money as well as 30 ATP Ranking points.
