Argentine Facundo Mena and Miljan Zekic of Serbia will compete in Saturday’s singles final of the Cali Open in Colombia. Mena defeated Nicolas Alvarez of Peru in the stage of the last four on Friday 7-6(6), 6-4.
The No. 2 seed of the $53,120 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event fired 14 aces and won 79 per cent of his first-service points to seal victory in one hour and 44 minutes.
Zekic defeated Colombia’s Nicola Mejia 7-5, 6-4. The No. 8 seed converted three of his eight break points and won 53 per cent of the total points played to prevail after two hours and nine minutes.
World No. 160 Mena is bidding for his third Challenger career crown, his first of the season. World No. 276 Zekic could lift his second Challenger trophy following his maiden triumph in Todi, Italy 2016. The pair will meet for the first time.
