TODI/STARNBERG, July 9, 2022
Thanks to Thursday’s continuous rain which washed out much of the schedule, the second-round matches as well as the quarterfinals of the Internazionali di Tennis Città di Todi took place on Friday.
Top-seeded Argentine Pedro Cachin advanced to the stage of the final four at the €45,730 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event following two straight-set wins over local wild card entry Matteo Gigante and No. 5 seed Santiago Rodriguez Taverna of Argentina, respectively.
The World No. 120 will next play Francesco Passaro, who rallied past fellow Italian Luciano Darderi in three sets. The 20-year-old secured a 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-4 victory in two hours and 14 minutes.

“I’m tired, but very happy. It was a great fight, I’ve known Luciano since the junior circuit and he plays with a lot of intensity,” Passaro said after the fight. “I had never beaten him and I’m happy to have succeeded here in Todi. The crowd has played an important role here right from the beginning of the tournament. It’s nice to play in front of so many friendly people and this is certainly giving me a further boost.”
In the bottom half of the draw, Daniel Masur of Germany will face Nicolas Kicker of Argentina for a spot in the championship match.
