Daniel Masur and three Frenchmen will compete in the semi-finals of the Open Ciudad de Pozoblanco. The 27-year-old German stopped the run of Spanish wild card entry Alejandro Moro Canas in Friday’s quarterfinals, winning 7-6(4), 7-6(3).
Masur, a two-time champion on the ATP Challenger Tour, struck seven aces and won 77 per cent of his first-service points. In the pair’s first meeting, the World No. 211 outpointed Moro Canas 83-78 after two hours and three minutes and will next take on Constant Lestienne.
The No. 2 seed of the €45,730 hard-court event held in the province of Cordoba in southern Spain cruised past fellow French Antoine Escoffier 6-1, 6-1 in only 51 minutes.

“I am really happy to be in the semis. I played three really good matches and didn’t lose too much energy,” said Lestienne. “Antoine is of my age and we have known each other since a long time. I dint know how to approach the match but everything went my side. I am a bit surprised that I won 6-1, 6-1, but everything is good.”
The World No.119 from Amiens is enjoying his stay in Pozoblanco. “I like the city a lot. The city is small and you can feel the people are nice. Playing during the night is good, as we don’t do this very often,” Lestienne said.
In the top half of the draw, Ugo Humbert defeated Emilio Nava from the United States 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 10 minutes and will next play his compatriot Gregoire Barrere. The seventh favourite edged past Frenchman Maxime Janvier 6-2, 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 13 minutes.
