The ATP Challenger Tour is back in Germany this week for the ninth edition of the Rhein Asset Open, an €45,730 clay-court event being held at the TeReMeer Sport and Tennis Resort in Meerbusch, North Rhine-Westphalia.
World No. 89 Bernabe Zapata Miralles leads the quarterfinals line-up following straight-set wins over German qualifier Max Rehberg and Oleksii Krutykh from Ukraine. The 25-year-old top seed from Valencia, who is bidding for his fourth ATP Challenger crown, his first of the season, will take on Sumit Nagal of India on Friday.
French qualifier Clembent Tabur booked his spot in the stage of the final eight with a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 second-round victory over No. 4 seed Yannick Hanfmann on Thursday. The World No. 364 withstood six aces and broke the German’s serve three times to prevail after two hours and 15 minutes. Tabur will next face seventh-seeded German Mats Moraing.

In the bottom half of the draw, Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina will take on Dennis Novak from Austria, who knocked out home favourite and No. 3 seed Jan-Lennard Struff 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Novak struck nine aces and won 70 per cent of his first-service points to succeed in one hour and 49 minutes.
In the last quarterfinal match, Czech youngster Jonas Forejtek will take on Italian veteran Riccardo Bonadio.
