Six men have completed the main draw of the inaugural Internationeaux de Toulouse, as Karol Drzewiecki of Poland, Frenchman Jurgen Briand, Kimmer Coppejans from Belgium, home favourite Ugo Blanchet, Andrey Chepelev of Russia and teenager Arthur Fils of France won their matches in the final round of the qualifying on Monday.
Later in the day, main draw action kicked off with No. 2 seed Elias Ymer opening his title bid at the €45,730 clay-court tournament in Southern France with a solid 6-4, 6-1 win over Portuguese alternated Joao Domingues. The 133rd-ranked Swede sent down six aces, saved both break points he faced and converted all of his three own break-point chances to advance in one hour and 12 minutes.
Ymer will next take on 18-year-old Luca van Assche of France. The 2021 French Open Boys’ singles champion beat Dutchman Jelle Sels 6-4, 6-2 in 78 minutes.
Top seed Carlos Taberner from Spain will start his Toulouse campaign against local wild card entry Mathys Erhard.
