MUNICH, April 12, 2016
Two weeks ahead of the start of the BMW Open by FWU AG, the organizer of the tournament announced on Tuesday that 2009 US-Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro will come to Munich.
The 27-year-old Argentine will receive a wild card and therewith return to Bavaria for the first time in eight years.
“I am really excited to be coming to Munich for the first time since 2008. I am looking forward to this great event in front of all my fans in Germany,” said Del Potro, who returned to the ATP Tour after injuries in Delray Beach in February this season.
“Juan Martin is part of the best players in the world,” tournament director Patrik Kühnen told about the former world number four and 18 time titlist on the ATP World Tour. “We are very pleased with his decision coming to Munich.”
