The two top seeds of the XVII Internacional Masculino De Tenis Melilla Sport Capital go head to head in Sunday’s championship match of the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 clay-court event. Alvaro Lopez San Martin rallied past third favourite and fellow Spaniard Max Alcala Guirri 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 in Saturday’s semi-final.
Alvaro Lopez San Marin struck five aces and won won 79 per cent of his first-service points to seal victory in two hours and seven minutes.
The World No. 456 from Spain will play second-seeded Swiss Mirko Martino from Switzerland. The 24-year-old fought past fourth favourite Argentine Federico Agustin Gomez of Argentina 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-6(1) in three hours and 13 minutes.
In other action, Sergi Perez Contri and Benjamin Winer Lopez captured the doubles title. The No. 1 seeds from Spain defeated Filip Apltauer from the Czech Republic and Moroccan Imran Sibille 6-3, 6-3. The encounter lasted one hour and 15 minutes.
