BUENOS AIRES/STARNBERG, September 27, 2022
Two Germans have booked their spots in the second round of the Challenger de Buenos Aires, a $53,120 clay-court tournament being held at the Racket Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
No. 2 seed Daniel Altmaier opened his title bid with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Pol Martin Tiffon of Spain on Monday. The 24-year-old Kempen native capitalized on four of his eight break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 36 minutes. Altmaier will next take on local wild card entry Roman Andres Burruchaga or qualifier Facundo Juarez.
In other action, Yannick Hanfmann beat Argentine alternate Gonzalo Villanueva 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 19 minutes. The No. 8 seed will next play either last week’s Villa Maria Challenger champion Nicolas Kicker or Renzo Olivo.
