2023 ATP Challenger Tour To Kick Off in Portugal

The new season of the ATP Challenger Tour will kick off in Portugal with two indoor tournaments held at the Jamor Tennis Complex in Oeiras between January 1st and 15th. This was announced by the Portuguese Tennis Federation on Thursday.

Scheduled for the first two weeks of 2023, the two tournaments will be organized according to the upgrades to the ATP Challenger Tour, which is based on a significant increase in prize money and a simplification of categories.

The Oeiras Open 1 will take place from January 1st to 8th and will be a Challenger 50 event offering €36,000 in prize money plus hospitality.

The Oeiras Open 2 will be played between January 8th and 15th and will be a Challenger 75 with a total prize money of €73,000 plus hospitality.

These will be the first two Challenger tournaments held on European soil in 2023. Further events scheduled for the first week of the new season are: Canberra, Australia; Noumea, New Caledonia; Nonthaburi, Thailand and Tigre, Argentina.
