Dusan Lajovic leads the quarterfinals line-up of the eó Hotels Maspalomas Challenger. The top seed of the €45,730 clay-court event hosted by the Conde Jackson Tennis Club in Gran Canaria defeated Spanish qualifier Imanol Lopez Morillo 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday.
Lajovic won 82 per cent of his first-service points and broke his rival two times to advance in one hour and 25 minutes. The World No. 103 from Serbia will next take on Adrian Andreev from Bulgaria, who cruised past local wild card entry Inaki Cabrera Bello 6-1, 6-1 in just under one hour of play.
In the bottom half of the draw, Vit Kopriva booked his spot in the stage of the last eight with a hard-fought 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Timo Stodder from Germany. The third-seeded Czech struck seven aces and won 55 per cent of the total points played to prevail after two hours and 14 minutes.
Up next for Kopriva will be Oriol Roca Batalla from Spain, 7-6(5), 7-6(5) winner over Michael Geerts from Belgium. The encounter lasted two hours and 24 minutes.
