The ATP Challenger Tour is back in Poland for the 2023 Enea Poznan Open being held at the Park Tenisowy Olimpia this week. The semi-finals line-up is led by World No. 148 Tomas Barrios Vera, the last remaining seeded players left in the singles draw of the €118,000 clay-court event.
The 25-year-old from Chile outlasted US-American qualifier Ulises Blanch 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 on Thursday. Barrios Vera capitalized on seven of his 15 break-point chances to seal victory in two hours and 42 minutes. The No. 5 seed will next take on Zdenek Kolar of the Czech Republic, who defeated Argentine Facundo Diaz Acosta 6-3, 6-1 in one hour and 25 minutes.

In the bottom half of the draw, Germany’s Timo Stodder has reached the final four of an ATP Challenger Tour event for the first time. The 27-year-old Berlin native, who played college tennis for the University of Tennessee and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Finance before making the step to the Pro Circuit, beat Daniel Michalski of Poland 6-1, 6-4. Stodder sent down three aces and won 58 per cent of the total points played to advance in one hour and 17 minutes.
Up next for Stodder will be Mariano Navone of Argentina. The 22-year-old South American fought past French qualifier Manuel Guinard 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-2. The longest encounter of the day lasted two hours and 48 minutes.
