Paraguayan teenager Adolfo Daniel Vallejo has reached his first quarterfinal on the ATP Challenger Tour. The 19-year-old qualifier rallied from a set down to outlast No. 9 seed Matias Franco Descotte of Argentina 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in Wednesday’s second-round match of the $40,000 AAT Challenger Santa Fe.
Vellejo sent down three aces and won 79 per cent of his first-service points to advance in two hours and 17 minutes. The World No. 582 will next face home favourite Ignacio Monzon, who beat local wild card entry Alejo Lorenzo Lingua Lavallan 7-6(1), 6-3 in one hour and 57 minutes.

In other action in the bottom half of the draw, third-seeded Argentine Roman Andres Burruchaga edged out his compatriot and qualifier Luciano Tacchi 7-6(2), 6-3 in one hour and 56 minutes.
The World No. 247 will next play Pedro Boscardin Dias of Brazil. The No. 8 seed fought past US-American Bruno Kuzuhara 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-3. The longest encounter of the day lasted three hours and 13 minutes.
