CHENGDU, September 23, 2023 (Press Release)
Italian rising ATP star Lorenzo Musetti took time out this afternoon to learn about the Mid-Autumn Festival, a famous Chinese tradition that commemorates the arrival of the harvest moon, falling on 29 September this year.
Joined by his coach Simone Tartarini, the 21-year-old World No. 18 also tried his hand at making mooncakes, with the guidance of a chef from the Sichuan Tennis International Hotel, where the event was held.
Mooncakes are traditional Chinese pastries that hold cultural significance and are often presented as gifts during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Symbolising completeness, fullness and family unity, these round pastries feature various sweet or savoury fillings such as lotus seed paste or red bean.
“I think it’s kind of fun trying out this new experience with food. It was nice to get some lessons from the chef so it was really a cool experience. It was my first time making a mooncake, so hopefully next time I will try to do better. I wish all my fans in China a happy Mid-Autumn festival,” said Musetti.
