HAMBURG, October 14, 2023
The ATP Challenger Tour is back in Germany for the second edition of the Hamburg Ladies & Gents Cup, which also includes an ITF World Tennis Tour W60 tournament. The ATP Challenger Tour 50 event offers a total prize money of €36,000 and is being held at the venue of the Hamburger Tennisverband in Hamburg-Horn, a district in Germany’s second-largest city. It is located in the eastern part of the city. One of the notable features of Hamburg-Horn is the Horner Rennbahn, a horse racing track that hosts regular racing events.
The main draw ceremony took place on Saturday evening and top seed Dennis Novak will open his title bid against local wild card entry Marko Topo. The 196th-ranked Austrian is bidding for his fourth ATP Challenger career crown, his second of the season following his triumph at Nonthaburi, Thailand in January.
The bottom half of the draw is led by World No. 199 Adam Walton. The 24-year-old Australian, who lifted his maiden Challenger trophy in Cary, United States in August, will face Turkish alternate Ergi Kirkin in the first round. Mate Valkusz of Hungary and Germany’s Rudolf Molleker round out the top four seeds. Valkusz will play against Nino Serdarusic of Croatia and wild card entry Molleker will start against a qualifier.
Qualifying action starts Sunday, 10 am local time.
